Thermoplastic road marking material premixed with 10% reflective glass beads — high reflectivity, strong adhesion and a long marking service life. The 10% premix loading markedly raises the line’s brightness at night and in other low-light conditions, and the product is widely used on urban roads, in car parks and on township roads.
Premix beads are the line’s wear-revealed reflectivity reserve; drop-on beads applied during construction give the initial reading. The right premix percentage is whatever your tender or budget calls for — here is how the two grades compare, and what the major standards expect.
| 10% mixed beads | 20% mixed beads | |
|---|---|---|
| Premix loading | 10% of the material | 20% of the material |
| Reflectivity reserve over the service life | Lighter — suits shorter renewal cycles | Larger — suits long-life highway lines |
| Initial retroreflectivity | Set by the drop-on beads and spread rate in both grades | |
| Cost per tonne | Lower — less glass in the batch | Higher, with more reflectivity in reserve |
| Typical fit | Urban streets, car parks, township roads | BS 3262 reflectorized tenders (≥ 20%), high-traffic roads |
Not sure which your project needs? Read the tender’s premix clause first — if it names BS 3262 reflectorized material, 20% is the threshold; if it sets its own percentage, we formulate to that number exactly — 10%, 20%, or any premix percentage you need.
| Standard | Premix bead requirement |
|---|---|
| BS 3262-1:1989 | ≥ 20% when the line must reflectorize — for those tenders, pick the 20% grade |
| BS 6088 Class A (premix beads) | 65 – 95% retained on a 425 µm sieve, ≥ 70% true spheres, refractive index ≥ 1.50 |
| AASHTO M 249-12 (2024) | 30 – 40% uncoated M 247 Type I — a separate product grade |
| EN framework | Premix beads via EN 1424; on-road performance by EN 1436 RL classes |
Thermoplastic binder, titanium-dioxide pigment, and calcium-carbonate and quartz filler ground in our own plant behind the coating lines — no outsourced filler, no trader margin — with 10% glass beads blended evenly through the batch. White and yellow, screed, spray or extrusion grades, formulation tuned to the standard your tender names.
